Founded in 1980 by local physiotherapists, Newington Physiotherapy has grown into one of Ballarat’s leading treatment and rehabilitation centres.

Peter Roberts
A long-time sports enthusiast and active hockey player, Pete has a strong interest in sports injury rehabilitation, particularly in field hockey and track and field.
He is a titled Member of the Australian College of Physiotherapy and has a background in musculoskeletal conditions and clinical Pilates, which allows him to offer a tailored approach for athletic recovery. Greatly involved in the local sporting community, Pete is also the President of the Eureka & Golden City Hockey Club.

Joe Milgate
Joe has over 10 years of experience with acute musculoskeletal, sports injuries and post-surgical rehabilitation.
He has experience in thermoplastic splinting, wound and scar care, and hand therapy. Joe mentors new graduates and teaches splinting at ACU Ballarat. Outside of the clinic, he enjoys spending time with family and playing football for Buninyong.

Andrew Geljon
Andrew brings decades of clinical experience in managing acute and chronic sporting and musculoskeletal injuries.
In addition to clinical practice, he is a titled Member of the Australian College of Physiotherapy and contributes to the physiotherapy profession as an educator at the Australian Catholic University. He has long supported youth athletes as a physiotherapist for the Greater Western Victoria Rebels Football team. Outside the clinic, Andrew enjoys running and gardening.

Charles Flynn
Co-founder of Newington Physiotherapy in 1980, Charlie has a wealth of knowledge and is a great support to our physiotherapists.
With decades of clinical experience and a strong academic foundation, he has a particular interest in musculoskeletal and spinal conditions, combining hands-on expertise with evidence-based practice. Charlie is also actively involved in postgraduate teaching, mentoring, and research, and is an academic staff member at ACU Ballarat’s School of Physiotherapy.

Elsa has over 20 years of physiotherapy experience and a deep passion for performing arts medicine.
With past roles including therapist for Cirque du Soleil, Elsa works with clients who have musician-related injuries and TMJ disorders. She also integrates Pilates and dry needling into her care. Outside work, Elsa enjoys playing the cello and reading.

Undertaking advanced training through the Australian Physiotherapy Association, she provides evidence-based care tailored to each stage of the motherhood journey. Jess is also experienced in infant physiotherapy and can assist if your baby has a flat spot on their head, tight neck muscles, or if you’re concerned about delayed gross motor skills.

At Newington Physiotherapy, we’re proud to offer care across two locations in Ballarat, each designed to deliver a high standard of treatment and support for your individual needs.

Newington Clinic (main)
Our primary clinic, located in a beautifully restored heritage building in Lake Wendouree, offers a wide range of specialised services. With 13 private treatment rooms, the Newington Clinic provides expert physiotherapy, remedial massage, hand therapy, neurological and women’s health physiotherapy, as well as tailored care for dancers and musicians.

Newington Active is our purpose-built space for active, movement-based therapies.
