Exercise physiology

Whether you’re recovering from a health condition, improving mobility, or simply wanting to feel stronger and more energised, exercise physiology offers practical and effective support.

EXERCISE PHYSIOLOGY

Targeted exercise for recovery and long-term health

Exercise physiology provides targeted movement-based therapy to prevent and manage chronic disease, support recovery, and improve overall health.

At Newington Physiotherapy, our Accredited Exercise Physiologist (AEP), Annabel Brennan, offers evidence-based exercise programs tailored to your individual needs, goals, and medical history.

What is exercise physiology?

Annabel specialises in the prescription of clinical exercise programs designed to assist with:

  • Chronic disease management (e.g. diabetes, cardiovascular disease, pulmonary conditions)
  • Rehabilitation post-cardiac event or injury
  • Neuromuscular & musculoskeletal conditions
  • Pre-diabetes, metabolic syndrome & weight management
  • Cancer recovery & fatigue management
  • Mental health & quality of life improvements

Exercise sessions can be delivered one-on-one or in small groups, using equipment such as pilates reformers, weights, resistance bands, or simply body weight. Home programs are also developed when suitable, offering flexibility and ongoing support between sessions.

Exercise physiology empowers people to take control of their health through guided movement. Working closely with you to understand your capabilities, limitations, and lifestyle, developing a program that helps you move well, stay motivated, and achieve sustainable results.
